Water heater replacement

Replacing a water heater is a planned job

Whether you are replacing a tank unit or moving to a tankless one, the work starts the same way: we come to your home, look at what is there now and talk through what you want to change.

A written quote follows, and an installation date is agreed once you accept it. You can ask for an estimate before you have chosen any equipment.

In order

From the first visit to the install date

In-home assessment

We look at the existing setup: the tank or tankless unit you have, how it is connected and the space around it. We also listen to the change you have in mind, whether that is a like-for-like swap or a different type of unit.

The visit is a free estimate, and there is no obligation to proceed.

Written quote

After the assessment you receive a written quote. The equipment and the price are settled there, not on the first visit, so you have it on paper to read through before agreeing to anything.

Agreed installation date

Once you accept the quote and the required equipment and materials are confirmed, we agree a work date with you.

Before you write to us

Describing your current water heater

A few plain observations are enough to start. You do not need model numbers or a chosen replacement; we confirm the details when we see the unit.

  • Whether it is a tank or a tankless unit.
  • Where it sits in the home, such as a basement, a utility closet or a wall in a laundry area.
  • What is around it: shelving, a finished wall, a tight corner or open floor.
  • What you would like to change, for example the same type of unit or a different one.
  • Any move in location you are considering.
  • Whether you have already picked equipment, or want to talk it through first.
  • When you would like the work done, in your own words.
What the quote settles

Everything is on paper before you agree

Pricing is set after the assessment. The written quote identifies each of the following.

Scope
The plumbing work to be done at your home.
Equipment
Which water heater is being installed, and who supplies it.
Labor
The labor for the agreed work.
Materials
The materials the job needs.
Tax
Any applicable tax.

The in-home estimate is free, with no obligation to proceed.
